GALAHAD workshop

This event at the Royal Society of Edinburgh featured a series of presentations on the hardware and clinical advances made during the project and a live demonstration of the system to image the retina of a human subject.

NB The original date and venue for the meeting has been changed because the possibility arose to demonstrate the GALAHAD system live at the event.

Björn Kemper (WWU) will present some GALAHAD results in the paper, “Novel minimally invasive optical approaches for imaging of the retina.”

European Conferences on Biomedical Optics

Presentations cover basic science, novel technology and applications in the areas of advanced microscopy, clinical and biomedical spectroscopy, diffuse optical imaging, molecular imaging, optical coherence tomography and other coherence techniques, therapeutic laser applications, laser-tissue interactions, opto-acoustic methods, and other novel biophotonics techniques.
There were two papers from WWU at ECBO 2019:
Morphology and spatial refractive index distribution of the retina accessed by hyperspectral quantitative phase microscopy (Paper 11060-11)
Durable 3D test standards from mouse retina for performance testing of high-resolution optical coherence tomography systems (Paper 11078-66).

Laser World of Photonics 2019

Focus on Microscopy 2019

Focus on Microscopy 2019 is the continuation of a yearly conference series presenting the latest innovations in optical microscopy and their application in biology, medicine and the material sciences. Key subjects for the conference series are the theory and practice of 3D optical imaging, related 3D image processing, and reporting especially on developments in resolution and imaging modalities. The conference series covers also the rapidly advancing fluorescence labeling techniques for confocal and multi-photon 3D imaging of -live- biological specimens.
WWU presented a paper on Spatial Refractive Index Modulation of the Retina Assessed by Hyperspectral Quantitative Phase Microscopy.

BIOS 2019

With 2,500 papers and presentations, SPIE BiOS is a key biomedical optics conference worldwide. Topics include biomedical optics, diagnostics and therapeutics, biophotonics, new imaging modalities, optical coherence tomography, neurophotonics, optogenetics, tissue optics, and nano/biophotonics.
WWU presented two papers on GALAHAD topics at this event:
-Refractive index properties of the retina accessed by multi-wavelength digital holographic microscopy (Paper 10883-30)
-Refractive index determination of buffer solutions from visible to near-infrared spectral range for multispectral quantitative phase imaging using a calibrated Abbe refractometer (Paper 10887-80) 

ICT 2018

MICCAI 2018
21st International Conference on Medical Imaging, Computing and Computer-Assisted Vision Intervention

The annual MICCAI conference attracts world leading biomedical scientists, engineers, and clinicians from a wide range of disciplines associated with medical imaging and computer assisted intervention. The conference series includes three days of oral presentations and poster sessions. These satellite events will offer a comprehensive forum to further explore topics relevant to MICCAI.

Speckle 2018
VII International Conference on Speckle Metrology

WWU presented a paper on Hyperspectral digital holographic microscopy approach for reduction of coherence induced disturbances in quantitative phase imaging of biological specimens.

OSA Advanced Photonics Congress

The OSA Advanced Photonics Congress, comprised of eight topical meetings, addresses the many aspects of photonic device research and development and their use in networks. One of the topics in the Nonlinear Photonics conference is “Applications of Supercontinuum” which is well suited to GALAHAD.
DTU presented two papers in the session on Applications of Supercontinuum (NpTh2I; THU 05-Jul-2018 10:30-12:30; E1.1).

Digital Holography & 3-D Imaging

The Digital Holography and Three-Dimensional Imaging meeting provides a forum for science, technology, and applications of digital holographic, and three-dimensional imaging and display methods. Topic areas include interferometry, phase microscopy, novel holographic processes, 3D and novel displays, integral imaging, computer generated holograms, compressive holography, full-field tomography, and holography with various light sources including coherent to incoherent and X-ray to terahertz waves. This is a highly inter-disciplinary forum with applications in biomedicine, biophotonics, nanomaterials, nanophotonics, and scientific and industrial metrologies.
WWU presented a paper on Enhanced Quantitative Imaging of Living Cells and Dissected Tissues Utilizing Multi-Spectral Digital Holographic Microscopy (DW3F.3) on WED 27-Jun-2018.

EGS Congress 2018
13th European Glaucoma Society Congress

In terms of both content and attendance, this Congress is expected to be the largest glaucoma meeting in Europe. The congress will be open to all glaucoma care providers including: glaucoma specialists, general ophthalmologists, optometrists, researchers, nurses, technicians, leaders of glaucoma patient organizations etc.

WWU presented a paper (10503-37) and a poster (10474-90) on GALAHAD at this event.

OCT Angiography 2017
5th International Congress on OCT Angiography, “En Face” OCT and Advances in OCT

OCT Angiography (OCTA) imaging is now a widely accepted imaging technology. It is is already widely used in everyday ophthalmology and fulfills research and clinical needs. OCTA attracts the best and brightest scientists, engineers, retina specialists and clinicians from all over the world. Industry is actively pursuing the development of innovative OCTA imaging
strategies. The growing number of attendees (from 450 to 1450 in three years) shows that the meeting provides high value teaching.

2nd Canterbury Conference on OCT
06-08 Sep-2017; Canterbury, UK
This three day conference will be dedicated to recent advances in measurement and imaging conditioned by progress in enlarging the spectrum of the optical source. The larger the bandwidth of the broadband optical source used in spectrometer based OCT, and of the tuning bandwidth of swept lasers used in swept source OCT, the better the axial resolution. However, an increase in the source bandwidth brings with it other problems that the research community have tried to address in the last decade.
NKT presented a paper on GALAHAD at this event in the session on “OCT in ophthalmology.”

CLEO Europe 2017
Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe 2017

The technical programme will present oral and poster contributions encompassing all fields of quantum electronics, lasers and photonics. All aspects of the technologies will be covered, including fundamentals, device development, systems, and applications. CLEO®/Europe 2017 emphasises applied physics, engineering and applications of lasers and electro-optics, while the emphasis of EQEC 2017 is on fundamental science including laser physics, nonlinear optics and fundamentals of quantum optics.
